During the month of February, we ran a promotion with the retailers we work with to help amplify our #ProjectPetRAK’s initiative to give back to pets in need! Participating retailers helped our rescue partners of the month gain more free Grandma Lucy’s food, in addition to each rescue’s own efforts.
The #ProjectPetRAK program was started in order to spread Random Acts of Kindness (RAK) to pets around the nation. For every RAK that is posted during the month of the promotion, Grandma Lucy’s donates 1 lb. (up to 350 lb.) to the participating rescue. A Random Act of Kindness is classified as any act that kindness that is done for any animal. This could be as simple as donating extra tennis balls to a local shelter to starting your own fundraiser -- the possibilities are limitless!
In the month of February, we sought to break our #ProjectPetRAK record for food donated. This was possible thanks to the help of our retailers and two wonderful shelters: Aussie and Me Animal Rescue, an all-breed rescue in Southern Florida specializing in Australian Shepherds and Border Collies, and City Dogs Cleveland in association with Friends of the Cleveland Kennel, an all-breed rescue in Cleveland specializing in pit bulls.
At the end of the promotion, we donated a combined total of 572 lb. of free Grandma Lucy’s food to these two shelters to help them continue their rescue efforts!
We would also like to extend a special thank you to Karen Kroll of Aussie and Me Animal Rescue and Becca Britton of Friends of the Cleveland Kennel for their ongoing support, dedication to helping animals in need, and aiding Grandma Lucy’s in our mission to help pets around the nation!
If you have a favorite pet charity, rescue group or animal shelter you would like to see as the Pet Project RAK of the month recipient, please email us at email@example.com. There will be a new charity announced each month and they will be able to receive up to 350 pounds of food for the months’ worth of Pet RAKs. Each charity will eligible to earn Project Pet RAK food for 30 days after their announcement on our social media page. Once announced, be sure to tag them in your post so they are sure to get your donation!
