How We Give Back: Making an Impact for Pets in June
In the month of June, we are proud to report that we donated 9,600 meals to service and therapy dogs, and pets in need in our community through our charitable initiative, Project PetRAK!
Project PetRAK (Random Acts of Kindness) was founded by mother-daughter duo Breann and Alex Shook to provide nutritious meals to service dogs, therapy dogs, and pets in need. We partner with organizations like RSM Cares, Firefly Meadows Service Dogs, Locks4Paws, OC Animal Allies, Spoof Dawg to the Rescue, and Families Forward to deliver nutritious meals, and make a difference for pets. Beyond feeding programs, and disaster relief, the initiative supports the human-animal bond by assisting with the substantial costs associated with training service dogs, ensuring that individuals who rely on these animals for independence and companionship can access them.
Meet the incredible pups and organizations we helped in June below!
RSM Cares: Supporting Families (and their pets) in Crisis through Food Pantry Donations
RSM Cares is a 100% volunteer-run, 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting food-insecure families and seniors in the Rancho Santa Margarita community, which is where Grandma Lucy’s is owned and operated. Through its twice-monthly food pantry, held at Shepherd of the Hills Methodist Church, RSM Cares provides fresh produce, non-perishable goods, and other essentials—including pet food—to over 500 families, with special outreach to homebound seniors in partnership with Age Well.
In June, our team members Kristel and Ellie had the privilege of delivering cases of pet food and treats to the RSM Cares Food Pantry. These donations go directly to families and individuals in need, helping them care for their beloved pets even during challenging times. The pantry warmly welcomes anyone in the community seeking assistance, providing not only fresh fruits, vegetables, and non-perishable goods, but also pet food and treats to support the entire family—furry members included.
OC Animal Allies: Providing Pet Food and Veterinary Care Assistance
OC Animal Allies is a non-profit organization whose programs are aimed at saving the lives of animals by providing community education, emergency resources and referral services to Orange County community residents. Their programs include their AirPaws Therapy Dog Animal Ambassador program, financial relief for low-income pet parents, and their No Empty Bowls initiative, which works to stock food pantries throughout the county with pet food and supplies.
As an official food sponsor for OCAA, we are proud to provide monthly donations of our 3 Bears dog food. In the month of June, we donated over 3,000 meals for pets that will go right into the community to support low-income pet owners in Orange County!
Firefly Meadows Service Dogs – Supporting a Non-Profit Training Service Dogs
Service Dog Mom Prom and Comfort Canine Story, and the class of 2025
Grandma Lucy’s is proud to be the official food sponsor of Firefly Meadow Service Dogs (FMSD), providing monthly shipments of our nutritious 3 Bears recipes to support the breeding dogs and comfort canines at the heart of their mission. As an official food sponsor for OCAA, we are proud to provide monthly donations of our 3 Bears dog food. In the month of June, we donated over 6,000 meals to feed their growing class of service dogs in training.
Our ongoing donations help support this remarkable organization, which works tirelessly to raise and train puppies during their first year on the path to becoming service dogs. In this initial stage, the puppies learn essential socialization skills and basic commands. Afterward, they transition into a specialized training program tailored to the specific type of service they’ll provide—whether assisting individuals who are visually impaired, mobility impaired, or deaf. Training a single service dog can take up to two years and cost as much as $50,000. That’s why our monthly food donations are so important—they help ease the financial burden and ensure these future service dogs get the care they need.

Fueling Therapy Dogs with Nutritious Meals
First Responder Therapy Dog Mayzie
Our therapy dog sponsorship program holds a very special place in our hearts. Inspired by their journey with their son Hunter, who has Autism, Grandma Lucy’s co-founders Eric and Breann Shook experienced firsthand the profound impact service and therapy dogs can have on individuals and families. Through their connection with the special needs community, they witnessed the life-changing freedom and emotional support these incredible animals provide. Moved by this experience, they felt called to give back—by helping these dogs live long, healthy lives through the power of proper nutrition.
Classroom Therapy Dog Rocket
This month, we sent our specially formulated grain-inclusive 3 Bears recipes to the incredible dogs in our sponsorship program—Mayzie and Rocket. These sweet, loving dogs bring comfort, support, and smiles to classrooms and first responders alike.
Follow their journeys on Instagram and be inspired by the joy and healing they share every day.
