Giving Tuesday
Lucy was the pup who started it all in 1999, and to carry on her legacy Grandma Lucy’s has made it a mission to give back to our community and the organizations who truly make a difference. Grandma Lucy’s goal is to help pets everywhere live their healthiest lives. With this goal in mind, Grandma Lucy’s began our charitable initiative, ProjectPetRAK, and to date Grandma Lucy’s has donated over 250,000 meals and helped support over 300 non-profit organizations to help them continue their life-changing work and to help make an even bigger impact. In honor of Giving Tuesday, Grandma Lucy’s would like to highlight some of the organizations we proudly support. These organizations work endlessly to make this world a better place not only for dogs, but for their people, too.
One cause near and dear to our hearts are service dogs and the amazing, newfound freedoms they bring to their people. Little Angels Service Dogs trains and places dogs to assist those with Autism, mobility issues, seizures, hearing impairment, and psychiatric needs, and Grandma Lucy’s is proud to partner with them to allow their organization to touch the lives of more recipients. Truly everyday heroes, Little Angles’ dogs go through rigorous training to prepare them for their most important jobs yet. Each dog is carefully matched to not only the disability they can best assist, but to the recipient who will be their perfect match. Helping recipients regain independence, service dogs change lives one paw at a time.
Just as every animal deserves an opportunity to live their best life, Grandma Lucy’s believes every child should also have the tools for success they need. Specially trained Listening Dogs help children overcome learning struggles and to build invaluable literacy skills. Reading can be difficult for many children, and reading to dogs allows them to practice without worry or judgment. Grandma Lucy’s is proud to support reading therapy dogs and the life changing work they do, bringing confidence to children to help them continue to learn and achieve.
Rescue work is a never-ending struggle, but we believe every pet deserves love and a chance to live their best and healthiest life. Supporting A Wish for Animals, Grandma Lucy’s helps provide meals to pets in need as they begin their fresh start and new life. A Wish for Animals works tirelessly to serve dogs and cats in need, saving them from suffering and providing much needed medical care, TLC, and training to prepare them for their forever homes.
